Hambleton Strollers become a Charity
Congratulations to Hambleton Strollers.
Marion Archer from the Strollers contacted us to say: “Difficult times for us all, I think. With no walks happening, we are all thrown on our own resources to keep exercising within government guidelines.
“However, despite this, we have good news to report. Our group officially became Hambleton Strollers CIO (charity no. 1188777) as of 26 March 2020. We are very pleased with this and look forward to building on it when restrictions are lifted.”
The group organises its Walking for Health programme throughout Hambleton District with weekly walks in each of the six main towns.
Walks are not currently taking place because of Covid-19 restrictions, but the group has its sights set on the future beyond this difficult time. Walks will resume as soon as possible when restrictions have been lifted.
Marion Archer who led the negotiations with the Charity Commission said: “Our new status will help to protect our long-term future, to re-launch ourselves again and attract more funding if we need it. Our aim is “to promote and protect physical and mental health for the public benefit by providing a programme of health walks in the Hambleton district of North Yorkshire that encourages people to take up and maintain this exercise in a social setting."
The groups plan to have new leaflets for the re-launch and a new set of town maps which will show people where they can walk on traffic-free streets and footpaths.
