About Us
About us
My name is Roy Kimberley and I am the Fit 4 Life Co-Ordinator based at the Disability Recourse Centre in Birmingham.
My role as the Co-Ordinator is to provide a weekly walking group for residents in the Wolverhampton area. My specific target group is elderly, disabled people or anyone with long-term health issues.
The idea behind the project is to enable people to lead healthier lifestyle both emotionally and physically offering peer support and opportunities to those who feel socially isolated.
The walks
The weekly sessions will cover a short walks, ranging from 0.5 miles to 1.5 miles, as well as a 20-minute seated exercise workout. Throughout the year we also offer health & welbeing master classes coving topics such as relaxation, health condition management, healthy eating and falls prevention. I can also offer blood pressure and weight checks if requested.
Our walks last up to 30 mins and are particularly suited for:
- Elderly and disabled people for anyone with a long-term health condition.
- Patients with one or more health conditions who have been encouraged by a health professional to do more physical activity
- We also offer a 20-minute seated exercise session. Our walk leaders and walkers are very friendly and will make sure that you have an enjoyable experience.
The route involves walking on flat surfaces around a local park and local residential areas. Please wear appropriate footwear.
Where and When?
We are currently running two walks one at our head office in Kitts Green, Birmingham and the other at Stckland Green Medical Centre in Erdington, Birmigham.
