Stratford-on-Avon District Health Walks

About Us

Walking for Health walks are led by trained volunteers from the local community and are perfect for beginners and those who would like to become more active. The Stratford-on-Avon District Health Walks Scheme offers walks ranging from 10 to 90 minutes and typically follow fairly flat route in either urban or countryside surroundings. Walks will be led during all weather conditions unless it is unsafe to do so.

No special equipment is necessary - just dress appropirately for the weather and wear comfortable, sensible footwear.

Leaders often devise route which enable walkers to join for either a shorter or longer walk as most groups naturally split into a faster and slower group.

Walking has many benefits to physical and mental health. It is recommended that adults should complete 150 minutes of physical activity a week. This could be completed in 30 minute intervals, five times a week. For most people, physical activity does not pose a risk, however if you have a medical condition, disability or are new to exercise, it would be wise to seek medical advice before starting any activity.

To join one of our walks:

Turn up 10 minutes before the start, let the walk leader know you would like to join, the walk leader will ask you to complete a short registration form and then you'll be ready to walk with one of our groups whenever you like!
